i-gel® es el dispositivo supraglótico innovador de segunda generación de Intersurgical. La primera gran novedad desde la mascarilla laríngea, i-gel ha revolucionado el manejo de la vía aérea y es ampliamente utilizada en anestesia y resucitación en todo el mundo. Fabricada a partir de un polímero elastomérico termoplástico de grado médico, i-gel ha sido diseñada para crear un sellado anatómico de las estructuras faríngea, laríngea y perilaríngea sin balón de inflado, minimizando los traumatismos por compresión tisular. Lanzada en 2007 tras años de extensa investigación y desarrollo, i-gel goza actualmente de una reputación consolidada en anestesia con tres tamaños de adulto y cuatro pediátricos, ideal para su uso en pacientes con pesos entre 2 y +90kg. En 2012, las indicaciones de uso se ampliaron para incluir su uso como conducto de intubación (guiada por fibroscopio). i-gel se suministra en un innovador envase protector con código de color. Este empaquetado mantiene la forma natómica del producto para garantizar la seguridad del paciente, el rendimiento de la cánula y optimizar la circulación de gas para una esterilización efectiva. También sirve como base para la lubricación. El envase protector de i-gel está fabricado en Polipropileno (PP) y puede ser reciclado. El símbolo de reciclaje apropiado aparece en el etiquetado del producto y está en proceso de añadirse al envase en sí mismo.
