In a meta-analysis conducted in a combat setting, where minimizing treatment time was critical, Celox Gauze outperformed other hemostatic agents and was the only one that demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in survival, even in the most severely injured patients.
Out of 3,792 cases, a hemostatic dressing was applied to 317 patients (whether Celox, Hemcon, or QuikClot). When comparing patients who received a hemostatic agent to those who did not, there was a 7% improvement in survival. Celox was the only individual hemostatic dressing associated with a statistically significant improvement in survival, which was most evident in patients with more severe injuries.

The new design provides 3 channels that prevent air flow into the chest cavity during inspiration while allowing air to escape through the ventilation channels during exhalation. These allow blood to escape and ensure non-occlusion, because even if two of the three channels are blocked, ventilation will remain fully functioning by the third channel.
Aluminium packaging with an easy opening system, the container is perforated by its middle zone to allow only one patch to be opened if no more is needed and so use the remaining for another occasion. Each patch includes a gauze to clean the wound surface before application.
